Child FIRST

  1. About This Service

    Child FIRST is a centralised intake and assessment service. The service is a family information, referral and support team. One of Child FIRST's roles is to provide a streamlined and integrated approach into the South East Family Services alliance when there are parenting or wellbeing concerns for children. The primary purpose of Child FIRST is to ensure that children, young people and their families are linked effectively into services.

      • Eligibility Criteria

        Referrals are made to Child FIRST when there are significant wellbeing concerns for children or young people. Referral can be accepted for families with children from the unborn phase up to 17 years of age.

      • Who Can Refer

        Anyone is able to refer into Child FIRST, examples include: • Families (self-referrals, kith and kinship networks) • Educational settings (schools, kindergarten, childcare and playgroups) • Social services agencies (family support workers, social workers) • Health settings (maternal and child health, hospitals and antenatal services) • Specialist services (drug and alcohol, mental health, domestic/family violence, disability and housing services).
