  1. Foundation College courses provide learning and employment experiences that prepare learners with the skills to explore work opportunities and take up further study. We meet with learners to plan the steps to meet their skill needs and future goals, including: • finding an alternative to mainstream secondary school • developing confidence and independence for further study • developing employability skills – team work, communication, problem solving – valued by all employers • access to a range of learning environments – workplace observation, practical placement, hands-on learning in selected trade areas, classroom based learning for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication.
