  1. About this service

    AMES Youth Program delivers the Adult Migrant English Program customised to the needs and interests of newly arrived culturally and linguistically diverse migrant and refugee background young people 18-25 years old. It is facilitated by specialist youth teachers and pathway youth counsellors. Participants will learn English with young people, study topics of interest to youth, improve computer and internet skills,pPrepare for study at TAFE / university, practice skills Australian employers need, gain opportunities for community involvement and combine classroom learning with applied learning opportunities, e.g. Ucan2, Job Club, Creative Arts, youth camp, sport, Aussie cooking, cyber safety, roadsafe.

      • Eligibility criteria

        To be eligible for the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), clients 18 years and over must:
        •register within 6 months
        •commence their tuition within 12 months and
        •complete their tuition within 5 years

        The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program provides language, literacy and numeracy training to job seekers who find it hard to get work. Job seekers are referred to the program by the Department of Human Services, Employment Service Providers.

        - The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Commonwealth Government. There is no cost also for young people eligible for the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program. Eligible young people may study under the Victoria
