Alternative Education Settings

There are hundreds of different training providers across Victoria and some are better than others at delivering quality programs. In order to ensure you are getting a quality education that will be valued by an employer, you need to ask a few questions before you enrol. For example:

How long are the courses? A short course is not necessarily a quality course.

How big are the classes?

How many contact hours are there each week?

What support do they offer for language, literacy and numeracy?

Do the trainers offer flexible options like part-time or online study?

What are some of the provider services - what support services are available for people with disabilities, from rural areas and for Indigenous students?

How much does the course cost? If it is Government funded, is it a loan that you need to pay back? Will you still be able to do further Government funded training in the future?

Where do the course graduates look to get jobs? Do employers value the training and skills the students are obtaining?

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
